GEAR SHAFT JT9-6214

Removed cross slide and entire carriage and apron from machine,had to remove hand wheel from front of apron to use large brass drift to punch shaft from installed position.... Needed to drill new hole in gear and gear shaft for use of hardware store supplied tapered pin #3 .Note: did not use roll(spring type) pin as supplied by E-repl.par ... Read more ts... after drilling hole used tapered pin reamer to get hole prepped for pin. Installed shims on new gear shaft for proper spacing from backside of apron to the Rack gear on the lathe. Installed gear shaft into existing internal gear and drove new pin in place..... drained apron and flushed out foreign matter and refilled with proper oil and reinstalled in reverse of removal. Machine now works as it should. NOTE: lathe is a Enco and used replacement part for a Jet lathe and it works....Do your research and check pictures and cross-references and you will find parts are indeed available for discontinued machines.
