Product Description

?

This is a genuine replacement part sourced from the original manufacturer, designed for use with riding mowers and lawn tractors from Husqvarna, Weedeater, Jonsered, Poulan, and Ryobi. Made of durable metal and sold individually, this component plays a critical role in the mower’s safety and functionality. When the blades are not engaged, it maintains pressure on the pulley to stop the blades from turning, helping to prevent unintended blade movement. To replace this part, you will need pliers, a socket set, and a screwdriver. Always consult your equipment’s manual for proper installation and compatibility.

I removed deck from mower so I could see moving parts better. I am 73 years young and laying on my side looking under mower was not my cup of tea. Upon removing deck I could see the results of 11 years of use. The parts were worn extremely bad and were hanging up and not releasing the Idler pulley when moving lever to dis-engage blades . I should have ordered 2 Arm assembly Pad Brake but as it turned out one was not worn as bad as the other. The job was relatively easy. Just removed spring tensions first and laid them aside. Proceeded to remove nuts from carriage bolt. Put new parts on and put deck under mower. Mowed an acre of grass and had no problems. On a parts quality note..... The Arm Assembly pad Brake has a bolt on end that has a roller on it that is used in the disengage mode. On the original arm it was a thru bolt with nylon lock nut. The new one is just pressed in and I think it should have been spot welded where it come thru the arm. Only time will tell. If a person has a welding machine I would highly recommend putting a spot weld there as that bolt at times will have a lot of pressure on it as it slides around the edge of idler arm.

Arm brake was damaged from belt pulley when mandrel broke at the deck mounting

1. Installed new mandrel on deck but I did not use the new stripper.
2. Put belt pulley back on mandrel.
3. Installed new arm brake.
4. Installed new extension spring from arm brake to bracket on deck. I used a screwdriver as a lever to stretch the spring to get it into place on the bracket. This was the most diffi cult part of the repair since I did not a a spring stretching tool like those used for stretching springs on drum brakes on cars.

The most difficult job was, taking the mower off the tractor. That took the most time. The spring that holds the arm in place is the most intimidating part of the repair. I used a long screw drive to bring it around to position. My suggestion with any repair, is do not take apart until you have new parts, or make a detailed drawing. It\'s easy to mix up the way things go
back together.
