First thing you need to do is remove the battery. Than remove mower deck. Not hard to do. Only belt that needs to be removed at this time is the deck belt off the pulley. Leave the rest of that belt in place. Pull deck away from mower so you can get underneath the mower. Now take the battery carrier out so you can see the transaxle pulley . 2 bolts you can see that you can loosen so it will make it easy to remove drive belt from pulley. The 2 bolts are belt guides. Now get underneath your mower and slowly pull the belt out. At this time you can remove the idler pulley if you wish. Belt is out, put new one in and new idler pulley.

These belts are not easy; you have to take most of the mower apart to replace the motion belt. If necessary, take notes, or even pictures of assemblies before you remove them unless you\'re fairly experienced with these things. After removing the mower deck which is fairly easy, remove the hood by taking out the hinge rod, unscrew & remov e the air guide, choke/throttle cable cover from the engine. Unbolt & remove the steering wheel assembly from the center console, disconnect the fuel line from the engine side, & remove the (drained) fuel tank. unscrew, unbolt & remove dash board, & console support structure, at the same time disconnect the wiring from the console area including complete removal of the starter solenoid, & the ignition switch connector. Disconnect the choke & throttle cables from the engine to completely remove the dash board. In the process of doing this the clutch/break lock out rod will probably fall out. don\'t forget to put it back in during reassembly. Then remove the battery, battery box, & seat kill switch connector. Unbolt, & remove body (one piece fenders, & floor board) this will require removing the rubber handles from the three operating levers; this requires some twisting back & forth since they are a friction fit (to reinstall spray a bit of water into the handle holes to make them slide on easier. it\'s best to remove the seat assembly from the body first to save weight as this part is not real heavy, but it\'s unwieldy. Next, unbolt & remove the actuation assemblies from the trans axle area (springs, brackets, bell cranks, belt guide etc). You can\'t get the belt over the shift arm without removing the surrounding bracketry. Remove the idler pulley & guide pulley from the center of the frame, don\'t remove their brackets, just the pulleys. Work the belt off the big trans axle pulley. At the front of the tractor, work the belt off the engine pulley & around the deck belt. it\'s not necessary to completely remove the deck belt from the engine pulley since it\'s already disconnected from the previously removed deck side of things. Finally worm the belt through the frame work to remove. Clean things up, This will make it easier to check for other possible worn parts, & it\'s just nicer all around, & you won\'t want to be doing this again soon because of a missed worn part. If you\'ve played with the actuation assemblies as you removed them, you\'ll get a better idea of what they do, & make reassembly more intuitive because now you have to reverse the previous steps to put it back together.

Engine would kick back when trying to start. Like the engine had too much compression or was out of time. I took the engine apart and checked the timing; I had also taken the head off and checked the cylinder and valves. Put the engine back together using the new gaskets, adjusted the valves and installed a new keyway pin in flywheel. Put on a new ignition coil and replaced the drive belt. Now the lawn mower cranks over and starts.
