Seized-up blender? You might need a new agitator assembly. The agitator assembly consists of the blades, the bearing, and the sealing plate. There are a few common problems that can eventually require you to replace the agitator assembly. The blades can become dull (or even break off) if you blend lots of ice. The bearing can fail, causing the jar to leak liquid through the coupling. And sometimes, the bearing can seize completely, causing the blades to lock up.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE BLADE ASSEMBLY 1. Remove the blade assembly.
a. Remove the jar from the blender.
b. Unscrew the container bottom.
c. Remove the blade assembly and the neoprene seal ring.
d. Inspect the neoprene ring for cracks (and replace it as necessary).
INSTALLING THE NEW BLADE ASSEMBLY
2. Install the blade assembly.
a. Install the new blade assembly (and the neoprene seal) onto the container bottom. (The seal fits on top of the blade assembly.)
b. Screw the container bottom onto the jar.
c. Install the jar onto the blender base.
