Product Description ?

This is a washer inlet valve designed to control the flow and volume of water in various compatible refrigerator and freezer models. The inlet valve functions by opening and closing to maintain a sufficient water supply for the ice maker compartment and water dispenser. Typically located at the bottom behind a panel on the back of the machine, this inlet valve is sold individually and does not include securing screws or water lines, so it is essential to retain the original hardware. If you observe any water leakage from your refrigerator or freezer, or if the water and ice dispenser are not functioning correctly, immediate inspection and replacement of this valve are necessary. Routine maintenance, such as cleaning coils and ensuring the integrity of seals and gaskets, can help prevent issues requiring repairs. To replace this water inlet valve, disconnect your appliance from the wall outlet and turn off its water supply. You will need a screwdriver, a wrench, and a set of pliers for this task. Begin by removing the back panel and using pliers to disconnect and remove the terminals attached to the valve. It is a good practice to photograph the wiring layout before detaching any wires. Then, use your wrench to disconnect the water inlet line and unscrew the mounting screws. Replace the old valve with the new one, reconnecting the lines and terminals, and proceed to reassemble your appliance.

Ice maker water line in freezer frozen - no water flow - valve failed.

    George - August 22, 2018
    Tool Type

    Ice Maker

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Pliers

    1. Used a hair dryer directed at the water distributor tube inside the freezer until the line was unfrozen.
    2. Turned off water to ice maker.
    3. Removed cardboard cover from bottom back of freezer.
    4. Removed 2 screws holding water valve in place to free water inlet valve.
    5. Used plyers to push locking valve in to release in and out water lines (had to look this one up).
    6. Pulled electrical connector out, checking alignment to ensure proper line up with new valve.
    7. Pushed both water lines into appropriate inlet/outlet of new inlet valve.
    8. Reconnected power to new valve.
    9. Replaced new valve with the 2 screws.
    10. Replaced cheap cardboard cover.
    11. Turned on water supply.
    12. All works well now.
    13. As an extra measure, I called a plumber to ensure water pressure was adequate. PSI 51 - quite adequate. So, the problem was NOT my water pressure which is what I was told the last time I had the Electolux repair guy come out and charge me more money to do what I did for less than $25!
