  • Order the small o-ring
The part fit well; however, I did not realize it needed a rubber o-ring and did not order one. I ended up using the original part, which thankfully still worked.

The hardest part of the repair on my EAM3400.N Magnifica was reinstalling the upper pump support which i removed initially. In hindsight i should have left the support in place as I had to put it back on with a great deal of effort without the pump in its location. These are the steps I should have followed for this particular machine (If the pump support slides out instead of being held in a slot by hard rubber tabs, then you may be able to do this with removing the support and without disassembling the pump).

    1. Remove back and sides
    2. remove wires from pump
    3. remove hoses from pump and valve (make sure not to lose the clips or the o-ring inside the valve for the upper hose.
    4. rotate pump as needed to remove screws on the top
    5. carefully remove upper part of pump from lower and remove pump from lower support
    6. using a 12mm wrench, unscrew valve from upper pump shaft
    7. remove small o-ring from old valve and insert in same location in new valve
    8. place upper pump shaft through upper pump support
    9. fasten valve to upper pump shaft using wrench
    10. replace upper pump shaft into pump, making sure to keep all pump parts as they were when you removed the shaft, rotating pump as necessary to tighten screws holding pump shaft onto pump body
    11. rotate pump into proper position
    12. replace pump hoses, ensuring they are properly seated, reinstall clips where required
    13. replace wires on pump.
    14. start up machine and run one or two rinse cycles until water flows through machine
    15, replace sides and back

Enjoy better espresso and milk frothing than you have had in a long time
