    Great part, easy repair
This part fit perfectly and I used the repair video to help me repair my string trimmer. It works great.
    Guest - July 30, 2020 Verified Purchase
    Finally worked.
The shaft was actually too long compared to OEM (1/4 longer), which I have to trim off the ends (both upper & lower shafts) in order for the cables (upper & lower) to connect. But I got them to work.

I had disassembled the parts previously to determine the problem so that part was easy. It was disappointing to learn that only the flexible shaft itself could not be purchased. The entire upper assembly was needed. The replacement part was marked for Ryobi when my trimmer is a Troy-bilt but that was expected. Replacing so the trimmer head would turn was a breeze. Replacing the handle and clip for the shoulder strap was slightly more difficult because I'd assembled the lower shaft to check function before realizing it had to be removed to place the handle on the new part. The shoulder strap on the old part was impossible to remove. I used a spring type hose clamp with a section of rubber cut from and old bicycle tire underneath on the new one to make a new shoulder strap attachment point.

If one could buy and replace only the broken flexible shaft the repair would have been easier. Maybe there's a reason this cannot be done.

The internal upper shaft cable needed replacement. It is replaced within the upper shaft as one replacement piece.

Replaced the upper drive shaft. Easy fix. Just replaced the complete assembly with the new replacement. The throttle cable was a little more challenging. Had to unbolt the carburetor to install the new cable. Pretty basic. Just remember how it came apart and not that bad.
