Upper Bake Element needed to be replaced

Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, vice grips

I pulled the range out and unplugged it. I then removed the rack and door for the upper oven. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, I then removed the two screws inside the oven that holds the old element in place. I gently pulled the old element forward exposing the two wires attached to the element. Then using a pair of pliers, I disconnected one wire from the old element and used a pair of vice grip pliers to keep the wire from slipping back through the hole. Then using a pair of pliers, I disconnected the other wire and removed the old element from the oven. I put the replacement element into the oven and connected one wire back on. I then connected the other wire to the other side of the replacement element, inserted the ends of the replacement element into the respective holes and secured the element in place with the two Phillips-head screws. I next reinstalled the rack and door, plugged the oven back in and pushed the oven back. I turned the oven on with an oven thermometer inside, to test it out. I am sure that I saved at least a two hundred dollars or more by doing this myself.
