Metal insert in tube
Didnt understand the metal insert in the tube! Had to remove to get the new pickup to fit on the extension tube! Then had to heat plastic to shrink around extension tube to seal.
Seem like more work than needed.

Removed carb
Removed intake tubes
Removed old gasket/diaphragm
Removed needle valve
Cleaned carb with carb cleaner making sure all holes and crevices were clean use a small brush to help
Replace all parts with new parts
Put back together
Started perfectly

1968 Briggs & Stratton emitted black smoke and would not draw fuel below 1/2 tank.

Removed fuel tank / carb assy, then separated carb from tank. Replaced diaphragm, and both fuel tubes. Also diaphragm spring. Engine now starts and runs well. Draws fuel all the way to the bottom of the tank until empty.

Reassembled with new gaskets
Poured in fresh gas and presto, new life.
