Unplugged unit from the power supply.
    Shut off the gas supply.
Unbolted the pilot box from the fireplace frame to gain easy access to thermocouple.
Unbolted and removed old thermocouple and installed the new thermocouple in the pilot box.
Unbolted the other end of the thermocouple from the backside of the gas valve.
I had to come in from the backside of the fireplace to do this due to the position of gas valve.
Replaced the pilot box after replacing the pilot gasket.
    Turned on the gas.
    Plugged in the power.
Lit the fireplace per unit instructions.

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, needle nose pliers

    Napoleon fireplace (natural gas, insert)
I had crescent wrenches (both standard and metric). Standard and Phillips head screwdrivers.
Removed front glass, logs and embers.
Unfastened back panel of fireplace so that it could be lifted to expose screws for bottom panel.
Removed screws for bottom panel and removed bottom panel. This exposed the pilot 'plate' that holds the pilot, ignitor, thermocouple and thermopile.
Remove 2 screws that hold this plate to get access to the back of the plate so that the thermocouple and thermopile nuts can be loosened. One of the screws for this plate was stripped and it required a lot of time to get it out.
Fished string through the narrow hole that the copper tube and wires of these two thermo pieces needed to pass through to get to the regulator/control center of the fireplace. Pulled each one through the hole.
Attached new 'thermo' pieces to the pilot 'plate' and fastened it back down (this time with a replacement screw for the stripped one).
Attached the wires of the thermopile to the regulator (had to disconnect the wires for the fan/thermostat? temporarily).
Attached the copper tube/wire for the thermocouple to the regulator (had a hard time with this because there was very little finger access to get the fitting at the end to thread into the fitting.
Replaced the bottom panel, lowered and fastened the back panel.
Set the logs back up and placed the glowing embers in front. (be careful with the logs, they are brittle).
Cleaned the glass and reinstalled it, turned gas on, pilot started, fireplace started.
