    heater replacement
It came quickly and was packaged nicely. It just didn't fit our heater. The model number matches this replacement part but because the heater was old it was not the right part. Easy return though.

I suspected that the thermocouple was faulty because the heater would burn as long as I held the button in.
To access the thermocouple I had to remove the fan and motor. I also had to remove the base sheet-metal to access the thermocouple. I cut the plastic tie that held the fan motor wires secure and out of the way of the fan blades. I removed the old thermocouple being careful to not bend anything. I them laid the new thermocouple next to the old one and bent the tube to match the old thermocouple. I then installed the thermocouple being careful not to damage the bakelite connector that the thermocouple threads into. Finish up by reinstalling the fan & motor. Then secure the wires for the motor inside the heater base to take up the slack and prevent the fan from damaging them.
Then test the unit to see if it now works as it should.
