Product Description ?

This genuine Dewalt replacement part is sold individually.
Switches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles on/off, variable speed, forward and reverse functions.
They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity.
Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement.
Some common signs of a broken or failing switch are:
• The tool has completely stopped functioning.
• The tool operates intermittently, requiring multiple tries to turn on, until eventually it won’t turn on at all.
• The variable speed function and electric braking aren’t working properly.
• The forward/reverse is not working.

Battery contacts on trigger assembly broke

    Wayne - October 14, 2021
    Tool Type

    Cordless Drill

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    , Torx screwdriver

This refers to a sawzall trigger assembly. Once I determined why the tool would not start (an experience in itself - lesson: simplest explanation is the first to explore), I noted the one of the battery contacts on the trigger assembly had broken off. Watched the video on repair. Required two different Torx screwdrivers / bits to disassemble the handle holding the trigger. Pulled off the two electrical clips from trigger assembly that go to the motor. Reattached wires to new trigger and put in place. Trickiest part was getting the wires arranged so handle could come together. Note, the locking mechanism also had to be ordered and replaced because the OEM trigger assembly and lock were updated from the original.
