Product Description ?

This is an on/off switch for various models of circular saws. This switch is located near the main handle assembly of the saw and responsible for toggling the power to the saw. This switch is made of durable black plastic and features a single toggle that the user presses to turn the saw on. Over time and through extended use, this switch can wear out and fail, at which point it needs to be tested with a multimeter, and/or replaced. To remove this switch for testing and replacement, you will need to first disconnect it from power, and then disassemble one half of the main handle with a drill or screwdriver. Once the securing screws are removed, you can pull the plastic shell of the handle off to expose its internal components. Pull the switch out of the housing and remove the wires connected to it, noting their location for the future installation. With the switch removed, you can test it with a multimeter to see if it has continuity, and if it does not, it will need to be replaced. With the new switch in-hand, install the wires with a screwdriver, starting with the motor wires (usually black first, and then white) and then the cord wires. Now place the switch into the housing and make sure the switch and wires are all flush, before reassembling the handle and securing it together.

    1. Remove battery
    2. Remove blade
    3. Remove screws from the main case
    4. Disconnect the shoe height adjustment lever and remove the shaft.
    5. Open the case, pretty straightforward, nothing will come springing out.
    6. Slide the old switch and diode out, take a photograph of the wire layout.
    7. Install the new diode to the new switch with the wires in the same position.
*Now is a good time to blow out any dust inside the case, my saw was full of MDF dust.
    8. Close the case, making sure all wiring is tucked back inside neatly.
    9. Install and tighten screws holding case together. Install the height adjustment mechanism and lever.
    10. Install a battery and see how it works. (Mine fired off every trigger pull now, as it should).
    11. Reinstall the blade. (After removing the battery again, of course).

    Ordered new trigger AND diode.
Like 3$ more for diode Took photos before removing screws. Pretty easy pull apart after all screws removed. Took plenty of photos before removing switch and diode. Special attention to wire colors and position before replacing cover. T25 and t15? Needed. Minimum 2 inches on some screws. Easy really, just take photos and take your time. Probably never have to replace again. Buy both parts. Switch and diode. One or both can be bad. Hardly worth your time to just do one. Fix it RIGHT the first time.

Hard to get the saw to run smoothly. It just switched on and off about 3-4 times a second and sometime run smooth

Removed 2 screws from bracket that holds the saw hanger on to the handle. Removed all the other screws around the perimeter of the handle housing and carefully lift the top half of the housing up and off. Unplug the 4 wires from the old switch (may want to draw a picture with to show the placement of each color wire, or take photo) and transfer them over to the new switch. Place new switch back into the handle and put back together by reversing the order it came apart. When putting hanger bracket back on, besure it "Flips" the correct direction so that it lays down out of the way. You'll know if it is on wrong when it gets in your way! LOL ;-)
