This plastic switch lever is specially designed for Makita angle grinders. It connects to the switch and allows user to turn the grinder on and off. Please note this item is sold individually. Please note the switch and switch button are both sold separately.
Replacing this switch lever is a pretty simple task that can be done using a screwdriver.
• Remove the rear cover
• Disconnect the switch and the button
• Remove old lever
• Secure new lever in place
• Reassemble and test the unit

2. Slid the plastic switch lever out of the main motor housing.
3. Cleaned the switch lever chanel with pipe cleaner.
4. Inserted the compression spring in the switch lever.
5. Lubed the switch lever with a silicon gel.
6. Inserted the switch lever into the main motor housing.
7. Pressed the power switch button into the switch lever.
8. Attached the rear motor housing.
9. Finished the grinding job that I started 4 days before when the switch broke.
Unit began by not turning off without being banged on a hard surface. Then eventually it wouldn't start at all.

Removed the handle held in place with four Philips screws.
2. lifted the brush springs to one side to remove tension on the brushes.
3. lifted the brushes to clear the armature or rotor.
4. removed the gear box held with four Philips screws.
5. removed the baffle held in place with two Philips screws.
6. removed the armature or rotor.
7. lifted the plastic retainer holding the stator in place and taped hard on a concrete surface to jog the stator out of position.
8. Once the stator was flush with the housing I used two spacers and continued to encourage the stator to clear the housing.
9. Removed the switch button by pushing the button forward until it clicked free of the switch mechanism.
10. With the switch button removed the switch mechanism slide almost all the way out but had to be rotated 90 degrees to clear the retention mechanism.
11. installation was the reverse of disassembly with the exception of pressing the stator back into place. At this point a piece of 2" PVC 4" long was used to avoid damaging the stator windings. Smaller or larger diameter PVC may be needed for different models using a similar design.
