This replacement part is a genuine OEM sourced recoil starter assembly. It is specially manufactured for Kohler engines installed on lawn and garden equipment. This assembly allows user to pull-start the engine. It consists of a plastic shroud, starter pulley, starter spring, grip and the pull rope. Please note the screws to attach this starter assembly are sold separately.
You will need a screwdriver to complete this repair.
• Disconnect the spark plug
• Remove the screws that secure the starter
• Remove the old starter assembly
• Secure the new assembly with the screws

I also replaced the recoil starter assembly. All that I needed to do was remove three nuts from the old starter and lift the old starter off, then the place the new starter in place and tighten the nuts.
