    Spring
Part replacement is correct but replacing it isn’t as easy as seen on the different websites especially if the spring gets totally released before install. Better to buy the entire assembly than to fight with rewinding the spring.

As always the first time doing a repair takes the longest. In the future I would just buy the whole mechanism (which I did but did not use) next time. Saves time and energy.

-Removed the 4 cap head screws holding the recoil starter assembly to the motor.
-Removed the screw holding the rope pulley in place.
-With a pair of needle nose pliers I grabbed the old spring and lifted it out.
-I lined up the new spring with the catch lug being careful the spring was the right
    direction.
-With my fingers spread out over the spring that is still in the retainer ring, I carefully
used a screwdriver to push the new spring from the retaining ring into position.
-It's pretty much re-assembly in reverse order.
