The old throttle plate was corroded and the plastic piece that the throttle cable hooks to was broken.

I removed the gas tank and the rewind cover, disconnected the wiring from the throttle plate, unhooked and removed the two governor springs and removed 3 bolts on the throttle plate. I replaced both governor springs even though the old ones seemed to be fine. I had a little trouble getting the throttle cable set correctly. The governor doesn't let the engine rpm's as high as before which, I'm sure, can be adjusted. The engine is quieter and still cuts fine at the lower rpm, so i have not changed anything yet. The most difficult part of the project is getting everything hooked up in a small space. Be sure to notice where the springs attach or you may have difficulty getting them hooked up correctly. I am 75 years old with some arthritis so the job should be simple for you young people.
