The governor spring is made out of metal and helps to control the speed of the engine. This authentic item is supplied directly from the original equipment manufacturer for use with Briggs & Stratton generators and Toro snowthrowers, tillers, and blower-vacuums. If it becomes lost or broken it will need to be replaced. A nutdriver may be necessary to help replace this part which is sold individually.

    1. Removed governor plate from engine.
    2. Removed old governor spring & attached new one. Make sure to note where and how old spring was attached.
    3. Reattached governor plate.

    Engine surging would only run on choke

    Removed plastic top cover
    Removed throttle assembly from side of motor
    Replaced old spring between governor and throttle linkage.

    1975 engine. Multiple parts missing or broken

    Took some parts off another old engine, bought new parts from this excellent company. Installed some parts correctly, some incorrectly. Thought about it a lot, spent a lot of time looking at the parts diagrams on this site, finally got it right.
