The depth adjustment ring on the router was loose.

2. Pull off the depth adjustment ring.
3. Place the spring by thirds in the depth adjustment ring. The springs should sit in the grooves.
4. Next place the depth adjustment ring on the base and snap on.
*** A little trick I found, is if you tighten the screw on the base of the router, it will make getting the depth adjustment ring on the base of the router a little easier.
*** Another bonus was the video on YouTube was great. I had an old Rockwell router, but found that the video on the Porter Cable 690 router was basically the same. I did a little research and found out Rockwell was bought out by Porter Cable, so the models were similar in design, so the repair was easy.
The springs inside the adjustment ring on my PC690 broke (again) and all I had to do was to insert 2 new springs into the groove, and reset the ring onto the body of the router.

4: put screwdriver in gap and set spring in groove with screwdriver.
4: rotate to next spring and repeat.
5: rotate ring to fully seat all three springs.
