auger bearing was worn to the point snowblower made a loud noise when the snow auger was engage.

Snapper I522 Snowblower, was Name by the factory "Snow King". Auger bearings don't last over 5 seasons, or at least should be checked every 5th year, depending on location and the amount of snow you get. My snapper is a Old Unit, but well built back then to last. No rust, very little wear. Oil always changed every Fall. On these snowblowers you have to remove both belts, which requires some tricky work, best to remove the belt pulleys and walk off the belts below on the two pulleys. Then split the box from the engine housing and pull that out to separate the unit. Once that's done remove the two pulleys, belts, and auger bearing and spacer. Reassemble those parts and place the two belts on the pulleys and slide the unit back together, having a helper keeping the belts on the pulleys, start two or three bolts to the box unit , Then before the rest of the bolts on the box unit install the belts on the two upper pulleys. Took me a few trys, but it is the only, easy way to install the belts. Once that's completed, install the rest, pulleys, and adjust the belts for the snow auger and drive traction. Once I figured that was the easiest way to remove and install and adjust it works great. Oh and the auger pulley has a rubber brake on a arm that stops the auger when not blowing snow, check that rubber brake pad, seems to be just a piece of 3/8" rubber hose about 3/4" in length. Done. Thank You.
