Fast forward a couple months to faucet leaking again. Checked all same elements (including looking for sediment in the vacuum valve). All seemed to be in order but apparently the spring was sticking. I dislodged it and it appears to work fine.
I predict this will re-occur and at some point the the spring will fail. I bought this part to have a spare on the shelf when that happens so the fix can be immediate.
