Plate removes easily and new plate goes on the same. PROBLEM: Old bolts were worn off and down into the nuts as the shave plate wares down. So, the bolts and nuts ware down as they contact the ground on the lower bolt row as the plate wares. I bought new bolts and nuts at the local hard ware store but bought them shorter by 1/2" Now the shave plate will wear down substantially before the bolts contact the cement or driveway. The SKID SHOE had worn down equally to the shave plate so I replaced it along with adjusting the shoe 1/8" below the shave plate by adding a strip of 1/8" X 1/2" hard Teflon tape to the bottom of the shoe. Blower now works at half the work effort as the shoe slides over the driveway with ease making it so much easier to turn or maneuver . To sum it up, Give new bolts with the shave plate as they will need to be replaced. As to the Teflon, that's my idea and it worked.

The shoes are the part that contacts the ground, so they rub on the driveway and got very thin.

I removed the stove bolts and took off the old shoes, one on each side of the snowblower. Then I installed the new replacements and put on new stainless steel stove bolts that I got from Ace Hardware. One shoe took a little persuading to get it in alignment, but overall it was a very simple job.

This was a very simple repair, the snowblower was tilted and blocked up to give access to the hardware fastening the sheave to the snowblower chute. The items listed were replaced and the skid shoes were adjusted to give approximately 1/8-inch clearance between the sheave lead edge and the surface below. (The skid shoes will need to be adjusted to maintain this clearance as the skid shoes wear.)
