Product Description ?

This flexible drive shaft fits inside the drive shaft housing assembly to drive the cutting head. It is a genuine manufacturer approved replacement item that is specially designed for Weed Eater string trimmers. Eventually, the rounded ends will fail to engage the trimmer head. It is also possible to kink or even break the drive shaft cable by stopping the trimmer head very rapidly. It is made from high quality metal and it is sold individually.

    The 51 inch cable was discontinued so I took a chance and ordered a 50 inch and cut the housing down a inch. Worked out just fine weed eater preforms as it should. It's nice when things work out as they should!

    Pulled the throttle handle apart, separated engine from shaft, removed broken shaft, fished 2nd piece of broken shaft out. Slid in new shaft, reassembled.

    Pliers, Adjustable Wrench, torx drivers

    Disassembled the drive assembly from the power head
    Removed broken drive cable from housing
    Removed plastic inner cable guide from housing
    Unscrewed dust cover from threaded mounting assembly with difficulty damaging the threads.Reinstalled mounting assembly, would not go all the way into the bushing
    had to remove the rivet that holds the guard mounting bracket to the shaft
    installed all components in the shaft, welded guard bracket to shaft housing
    reassembled unit. Had to repair threads to be able to install the string head
    replacement drive cable worked perfectly and was a direct replacement

    1.Remove trimmer head
    2.Remove flex cable end
    3.Remove shaft from motor housing.
    4.Pull cable end from shaft with needle nose pliers
    5.Greased new cable, replaced cable into shaft
    6.Replaced shaft end at motor housing
    7.Replaced flex cable end
    8.Replaced trimmer head
