I've heard you can replace the seal by putting a screw into it and then extracting the seal by grabbing onto the screw with pliers. I wanted to replace the case oil seal too so I removed the side of the case and removed the main seal with a screw driver while I had it apart. The whole job was ridiculously easy and there is only the camshaft and lifters to put back in place correctly. The new main seal was seated with a large socket and a rubber mallet. Voila, no more oil all over the garage floor!
