Over the Years the shoe loosened up and disappeared and the metal plate behind that cracked

The rubber boot was damaged from a year of so of being used as the tool rest. It takes some screwing around to get the boot in place. Since the allen screw that holds the shoe assembly in place was lost - with the old boot removed install the allen screw. Install the boot stretching it a turning it to get the blade latch through the boot. Place the new guard plate onto the end of the saw and install the screws and lock washers..Install the shoe assembly pulling the boot back enough to tighten up the allen screw. If you had loctite might have been good to put it on all of these screws. Pull the boot back into position. This also a good time to lubricate the latch collar for smooth latch operation.
