Product Description ?

This is a genuine manufacturer-approved replacement part which is specially designed for use on Briggs and Stratton engines commonly installed on lawn and garden equipment. The push rod rides on the camshaft to push the exhaust valve open during the exhaust stroke. A bent rod can not only affect your engine's performance, it can seriously damage other parts if the problem is not taken care of immediately. Keep in mind this high-quality part is made of durable metal and is sold individually.

Performed compression test to find the affected cylinder to have no compression. Removed the valve cover to find bent push rods and frozen exhaust valve. Removed cylinder head, removed valve retainers, tapped out frozen exhaust valve with brass hammer. Cleaned everything up, freed up valve in guide, lapped valves, lubricated and re assembled valves in head. Replaced head on engine. Started up, ran fine. Performed compression check to find repaired cylinder to have 130 psi. All good in paradise!!!!

    1. Disassembled engine down to remove head. Engine is an OHV B&S Vangaurd engine.
    2. Removed intake valve and cleaned. Used a press to extract valve.
    3. Oiled and reassembled with new parts.
    4. Engine fired up on first crank.
    5. Root cause.....fuel sat for 4 years and then was used in engine. Lacquer from fuel adhered to valve and locked up the guide. When attempt to start again occurred after engine cooled the damage happened.
    6. Be sure to NOT use ethanol based fuel and also no stabilizer or you will pay for it.
