Then I slid the wheel back on the axel and placed the new retaining ring on the axel up to the groove in the axel.
Taking a proper-sized socket, I placed it on the retaining ring and lightly tapped the socket with a hammer until the retaining ring slipped into the groove on the axel.
I then pulled on the wheel making sure it was locked in place.
Tapped the hub back on the wheel and I was finished.
The wheel did not fall off when I cut the grass, so I would say the repair was successful!
