Remove the four nuts & bolts from the chute & retainer rings (1/2" socket). Remove the four nuts & bolts from chute collar (7/16" socket). Set the outer chute retainer ring in place and reinstall the chute collar. Set the inner chute retainer ring in place and install the front retainer ring nut & bolt.

The only time I ran into an issue was that when installing the lower chute, I tried starting with the center (rearmost nut & bolt) then installed the right nut & bolt. When it came time to install the left bolt, the hole in the chute didn't seem to reach the bolt. When installing the chute, I recommend installing the two outermost nuts & bolts and finally, the center (rearmost) nut & bolt. Once I switched to this method, I had no problems.

Inner and outer retaining ring tore (because it is made of plastic) and could not handle the stress.

Simply put, I replaced the damaged parts with new parts using a socket set. I suspect I will have to make the same repairs in a season or two based on the fact that so much plastic is used in the manufacture of modern day products. I did not purchase this product, it was a gift. I will continue to use ereplacement in the future.

1. Removed the 4 bolts holding the chute housing
2. Removed the worm gear bracket
3. Removed 4 nuts and bolts from the retaining ring holder
4. Removed the tiny cotter pin for the worm gear
5. reassembled all the parts.
Note: The only damage I could see were the broken teeth on the outer ring. I would have been very angry if I didn't order the worm gear bracket. The damage to the worm gear bracket was only found when it was disassembled.

Broken plastic retainer ring, blower chute direction hampered.

Remove blower chute, 3 bolts, remove metal circle retainer plate which sits above retainer ring,4 bolts, remove old broken ring and replace with new making sure ring teeth fit into the turning block before replacing all bolts. I also replaced the turning block and the screw gear which fits in block which is on the end of the snow direction crank handle. Though it was a good time to replace all the connecting parts as this blower is 20 years old but still does the job,and runs good. Very simple repair. Parts were shipped fast and fit well. Thanks Fred S.
