Questions & Answers for Retainer Ring Inner B

My chute doesn't stay fixed in my left or right direction. It moves on its own while blowing snow. What needs replacement?
Paul for model number 536.881750 asked on 2023-01-14
Hi Paul, Thank you for your question. If you cannot adjust the chute, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the springs, the cable, the gears, the retainer, the pins and the brackets. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts, https://www.ereplacementparts.com/repair-center/lawn-equipment/snowblower/can't-adjust-chute/. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

Inner and outer retaining ring tore (because it is made of plastic) and could not handle the stress.

Simply put, I replaced the damaged parts with new parts using a socket set. I suspect I will have to make the same repairs in a season or two based on the fact that so much plastic is used in the manufacture of modern day products. I did not purchase this product, it was a gift. I will continue to use ereplacement in the future.

Old broken parts were already removed. I noticed that it would be easier to put capscrew that goes thru both inner and outer rings at the snow shoot on first. Making it easier to get everything else to line up. It all went on easy and I was happy that all parts looked original.

Remove the four nuts & bolts from the chute & retainer rings (1/2" socket). Remove the four nuts & bolts from chute collar (7/16" socket). Set the outer chute retainer ring in place and reinstall the chute collar. Set the inner chute retainer ring in place and install the front retainer ring nut & bolt.

The only time I ran into an issue was that when installing the lower chute, I tried starting with the center (rearmost nut & bolt) then installed the right nut & bolt. When it came time to install the left bolt, the hole in the chute didn't seem to reach the bolt. When installing the chute, I recommend installing the two outermost nuts & bolts and finally, the center (rearmost) nut & bolt. Once I switched to this method, I had no problems.

The replacement of these parts is an easy job and should have been, however the bolt holes on the replacement chute do not line up will the inner and outer rings which required the careful drilling of two new holes to secure the chute. "Repair easy, Part less than perfect fit".

Remove chute assembly by removing 4 carriage style bolts from the base of the chute.
Remove inner ring, noting exact orientation to chute and outer ring (use molding marks).
Remove outer ring, noting exact orientation to chute and inner ring (use molding marks).
    Remove worm bracket.
Place new worm bracket on worm assembly, using a nylon friendly lubricant such as silicon grease or spray. Do not fully tighten the mounting bolts, as some play is useful for aligning the main chute bolts.
Reverse assembly of new rings onto chute and then onto snowblower regarding above orientation observations. Some patience is required to make sure all carriage bolts are seated correctly before tightening fully.

I took it apart with 1/2" and 7/16" sockets and wrenches, swapped the old rings with the new ones. Very easy, Just be sure to line up the index marks on both rings or your chute won't turn all the way right or left. Perfect fit !
