The blade chucks are attached to the rocker arms. The clamp knobs secure the blade to the blade chucks. There are blade chucks on both the upper and lower arms. The blade chucks can crack or wear after years of use. They can also be cracked if the clamp knobs are overtightened.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE BLADE CHUCK 1. Disconnect the blade.
a. Release the blade tension using the blade tensioning lever.
b. Loosen the blade clamp thumbscrew.
c. Disconnect the blade from the blade chuck.
2. Remove the blade chuck.
a. Remove the two screws securing the blade chuck to the saw.
b. Remove the blade chuck.
c. Remove the clamp knob thumbscrew from the blade chuck.
d. Use a hex wrench to remove the set-screw from the blade chuck.
INSTALLING THE NEW BLADE CHUCK
3. Install the blade chuck.
a. Install the set-screw onto the new blade chuck. (Tighten until the set-screw is centered in the slot on the blade chuck).
b. Install the clamp knob thumbscrew onto the new blade chuck.
c. Install the new blade chuck onto the saw.
d. Secure the blade chuck with the two screws.
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT
4. Reinstall the blade.
a. Install the blade into the blade chuck.
b. Secure the blade with the blade clamp thumbscrew.
c. Tension the blade (using the tensioning lever).
5. Repeat these steps (as-needed) to remove / install the lower blade chuck.
