It is really a very simple job if everything goes right, but my axle spindle was seized on the axle so I had to heat it up with torch and use air chisel to remove it.
After that everything went together fine.

I disconnected the old cable with the broken part and then installed the new cable. Since my Snapper is designed to be stood on end, accessing the repair area was easier than with other mowers. The axel boots required removing the left wheel and I don't have a puller to do that so I cheated and slit the boots to put them on. Tightened the clamps and now the axle is mostly covered from debris.

Noticed the axle boots broken, so I felt the problem mite be that dirt was causing the extra strain on shift handle. Replaced the parts that I got from ereplacementparts. All fit perfect and now it shifts and drives great. Thanks
