  • Received parts in disarray.
It appears all the parts ordered are the correct ones. As soon as the weather warms, I'll know when I begin the remantling process. One negative. The small box with parts was open and smashed with parts strewn throughout from mishandling during shipment. The smaller rocker caps could have made it outside the box as there were cardboard breaks in the corners. Make sure packagers put some foam or bubble wrap to protect the integrity of the contents.

    Drained engine oil.
    Remove the hood.
Disconnected the engine for the mower deck.
Set it on the work bench.
    Removed starter and heat shield.
Removed the pulley from the bottom of the engine.
    Removed crankcase bolts.
Found the decompression pin on the camshaft had broken.
I ordered parts and waited 5 months, (the cam was back ordered) from Briggs and Stratton.
Then decided to buy new push rods through EReplacement.
Installed new parts, torqued crankcase bolts to spec, and push rods to their settings.
New oil filter, replaced engine back on mower.
    Mowed the lawn.
Very pleased with having it running again.
