This pulley spring, also known as a door spring, controls the opening speed of your dishwasher door by applying tension so that it does not drop too quickly when you open it. It is commonly found in the door assembly, connecting the friction door cable to the pulley. Over time, the spring can lose its elasticity. It needs to be replaced if the dishwasher door starts to drop too quickly or slams shut when opened. To remove the existing spring, use a socket or screwdriver to detach the lower access panels. Unthread the water supply line elbow fitting with channel lock pliers and release the junction box cover using a T20 Torx bit while noting the power wire orientation. Disconnect the grounding wire and detach the strain relief and power wires from the junction box. Disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain or garbage disposer and feed it through the cabinet. Gently pull the dishwasher away from the cabinet and unhook the old door spring from the frame, ensuring it is detached from the hinge cable.
