Compressor was leaking air from the unloader valve.

1. Remove all lines attached to the check valve and pressure switch.
2. Remove check valve and replace with new.
3. Remove the plastic housing from the pressure switch and unwire it. Don't break any wire terminals like I did. Remove gauge and fittings and set aside for use on new switch. Unscrew stripped pressure switch.
4. Install fittings but not the gauge on new pressure switch. Thread pressure switch tightly into fitting coming out of the tank.
5. Reconnect all lines to the new check valve and new pressure switch. Push the end of the aluminum unloader tube into the unloader valve tightly then thread the other end into the check valve.
6. Install gauge into new pressure switch.
7. Reconnect wires to the appropriate terminals in the new pressure switch. Replace black plastic housing.
8. Check to make sure it works and nothing leaks.

2. released residual air under pressure from cylinder and selected all tools and materials needed to complete the job.
3. Uncapped pressure switch box cover and marked wires for reinstallation (took pic for backup).
4. marked orientation of lines installed (backed up with pic)
5. had to remove instrument panel for line/hose removal clearance.
6. Once all lines/hoses removed, cleaned up end fittings on pressure switch and hoses
7. Removed pressure switch from air tank with short threaded tube still installed on pressure switch
8. Cleaned air tank to pressure switch short tube (internal corrosion) applied tape to threads
at tank end of installation.
9 Applied silicone tape to threaded fittings where necessary to prevent air leaks.
10. Transferred air line fittings from old pressure switch to new switch.
11. Applied lubricant to threads of fittings and hoses prior to installation.
12. Installed pressure switch, air lines/hoses and last the electrical wires for the power source, motor connections and pressure switch cover.
13. Plug into power source, checked tank pressure buildup and verified cutoff air pressure
value and checked for air leakage.

(My Sears compressor has a proprietary pressure cut-off attachment, so I couldn't use a knock-off brand. In the end, although 4 times as expensive, the repair came out just fine.)
