Remove broken base. Fit new base - hard plastic hinge does not stretch! BUT Dyson had thought of everything! The female hinges had small grooves allowing the male edges to slide through. Good design as usual!

Simply removed old hose and put on new one. Easy. Dyson does not have replacement parts due to age of vacuum. Ereplacements was the only place to find this hose. Otherwise I would have had to buy a new vacuum.
