Lower Bearing failure On Bosh Router

Kirk from Elbow Lake, Minnesota

5 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
Difficulty Level:
Easy
Total Repair Time:
15 - 30 mins
Tools:
Screw drivers
Parts Used:
3600905513, 1600900088
Replaced both upper and lower bearings. Remove top cap (2 screws) with 2.5mm hex key. Pull speed adjust by pulling back out of retainer. Remove brushes, I used a bent paper clip to pull the spring retainers back. Next remove 2 PH screws holding the top assembly to the windings. Pull off the top assembly. Remove the bottom bearing retaini ng screws(2). Remove the shaft nut on the armature. At this point the armature can be pulled from the housing. Simply remove/replace the bearings. Reverse to re-assemble. You really don\'t need pullers but small bearing pullers are cheap. If you replace bearings on any power tool its worth the $12. for a puller.

1 person found this instruction helpful.
Difficulty Level:
Easy
Total Repair Time:
1- 2 hours
Tools:
Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set
Parts Used:
3600905513, 1600900088
Removed Top Bearing cover and pulled brush springs and brushes from commutator. Disassembled lower lock nut after removing lower slide and height adjustment assembly. Care should be taken when removing lower plate as plunge spring has a tiny ball at the top and is easily lost. Remove lower bearing cover after removing bearing lock nut. Ta king care of the small parts and brushes. Removed armature from housing. Removed bearings and replaced same. Polished the commutator in a lathe while the armature was out of the housing. Reassembled the same. Router runs great again for a 15 year old.
