I did this a week ago so these instructions are from my memory.
1. Take out all screws on orange mower cover and then off the battery latch and black shroud cover. You will need a T-20 bit and at least a 3 1/2\" extension to get into the screw holes for the orange cover.
2. Remove orange cover.
3. Loosen screw on each s ide of the black shroud cover by the back wheels.
4. Remove black shroud cover. The electrical component will not come out of the black shroud cover. You can detach the red wire from the mower but I had to cut the other wire. There is adequate length to strip and wire-nut the wire back together without issue when you reassemble. Put the electric component off to the side.
5. Using a small socket with an extender, take off bolt/nut that is holding the metal bar onto the mower. This is challenging on the side with the height adjustment mechanism due to very tight space which is why you need a small socket tool.
6. For the handle with the spring attached, use a vise grip to pull the spring out of the small bar that is connected to the wheel assembly. My son actually lightly tapped the end that was sticking out of the bar while I pulled and it came out very quickly. The end that is connected to the handle bar at the back of the mower is not really \"connected\", it just slides around it at a notch in the bar.
7. Replace the metal bars on each side. Have the spring attached to the correct bar. Reattach the bolts to secure the metal bars. To re-attach the sprint, use a vice grip to pull the spring back and insert into the hole on the flat bar near the front wheel. if you are not strong enough, have a second person help you pull the spring.
8. Feed the electrical component back through the new black shroud cover. Then re-attach the red wire, then strip the other wire ends and re-connect with a wire nut. I then applied electrical tape to ensure a water-tight seal.
9. Put back on the orange cover and put back in al the screws.
10. Reattach the top part of the handle to the new lower metal bars just installed.
