Product Description

?

This replacement carbon brush set is a genuine manufacturer sourced item. It is specially produced for Skil power tools. Motor brushes allow electricity to flow to the motor's spinning armature. Over time brushes will wear out and will require replacement. It is advised to replace both brushes at the same type. Please note, this set includes (2) metal brush holders and (2) carbon brushes. You would need a screwdriver to replace these carbon brushes. • Make sure the tool is unplugged • First remove the housing/cover • Remove the old brush • Install the new brush • Reassemble and test your tool

Removed the screws holding the tool together. Once it was apart removed the switch and from handle, unhooked the wires and hooked new switch wires and replace. Brushes are spring loaded and pull away from armature by pulling up and out. Once out, disconnected the wires, replaced wires on new brushes and did reverse to install. Once these items were installed, replaced the two halves of unit and tested OK ready to go.

Transferred parts from melted housing and installed new brushes and put unit back together. Sander works like new. Anyone repairing this sander needs to know that the drive sanding drum is not a pressed fit but a left hand thread.
