To complete this repair you would need a screwdriver and pliers.
Removing the Drive Shaft:
• Loosen the shaft screws.
• Remove the air filter.
• Remove the throttle cable.
• Remove the ignition wires.
• Remove the shaft housing.
• Remove the drive shaft.
Installing the New Drive Shaft:
• Lubricate the drive shaft.
• Install the new drive shaft.
• Re-install the shaft housing.
• Re-install the throttle cable and ignition wires.
• Re-install the air filter assembly.

5. Reattached the lower housing and tightened the set screw.

2. Took the spool head off the lower shaft.
3.Pulled the flexible drive shaft out from the bottom, where spool head was removed.
4. Added some grease to the lower shaft, then installed the new flexible drive shaft into the tube, from the bottom up.
5. Replaced the the gear head and spool back onto lower shaft.
6. Reconnected lower shaft to upper shaft and tightened connections.
7. Done.

4. Reassembled making sure the set screw is holding the flexible drive shaft in place so that it doesn’t slide up inside the lower tube.
