This is a Genuine OEM sourced replacement part designed for use with string trimmers. This item is made out of metal and it is sold individually. It is the lower shaft that the gearbox is attached to.
• Loosen the knob on the coupler of the power head shaft and remove the end cap from the attachment
• Push in the button located on the attachment shaft and remove the old boom assembly
• Remove the anti-rotation screw from the gearbox and separate it from the shaft
• Secure the new shaft with the gearbox using the same anti-rotation screw
• Secure the boom assembly with the coupler and upper shaft

2. Removed the anti rotation screw.
3. Removed the rotating head assembly.
4. Loosened the locking knob in the coupling.
5. Depressed the small dent button and pulled the lower boom assembly out from the coupling.
6. Inserted the new lower boom; tightened the knob; installed the rotating head assembly; installed a new anti rotation screw; mounted the debris guard.
7. Started the trimmer to check all was correct.
The string wasn't feeding so I smacked the head harder to feed the string and bent the lower shaft so I needed to replace it

Created repair sleeve for worn out set screw hole on old lower boom assembly
Found new set screw since one did not come with gearbox assembly.
Replaced screws on gear box with bolts so it could be tightened to the new lower boom assembly
I set up the old gearbox assembly and boom with trimmer head. New gearbox and lower boom assembly used for wire brush cut head.
Lower boom assembly was broke on the end , coupler also needed replaced

Removed gearbox off of lower boom assembly by removing screws on gearbox
Installed a new gearbox on a new lower boom assembly. Fortunately the new lower boom assembly had a new lower flexible shaft installed.
Reinstalled trimmer head onto gearbox with a twisting motion. Used allen wrench in recess of gearbox to enable the installation of the trimmer head onto the gearbox shaft.
The Screw to keep Head of Trimmer had stripped and ruined the lower boom
