One of several belt keepers broke causing slippage of the cutting blades

The front of the tractor must be elevated to allow access under the deck. The deck must be lowered to allow access to the pulley on the top of the deck. Remove the belt from the front pulley. I used a deep well socket from the bottom and an open end wrench from the top to remove the bolt and pulley and the broken belt keeper. Note the location of washers, spacers and the position of the belt keeper. Once the broken belt keeper has been removed insert the new keeper in the proper position. Then place the belt around the pulley and reinstall the bolt, washers and spacers. Tighten bolt and test pulley for easy spinning. Reinstall belt on forward pulley. Lower the front end of the tractor and test drive. Hint: It is much easier if 2 people do this procedure.
