Actually, while I was at it, I checked out the entire vacuum cleaner, in case I needed other parts or repairs. No others needed, but it was an excellent opportunity to clean some pretty dirty parts that I had not really noticed on the vacuum cleaner. And I am not a DIY repair genius.
Instead of spending several hundred dollars on a new machine, I made a simple, inexpensive repair and cleanup job. Yay! Now it's time to get up all that dog hair that has been accumulating while the vacuum cleaner was out of commission.
