Uncovered the motor and removed the ceramic mounting block(s). Removed old brushes, guide and spring. Replaced them with new items.
NOTE: this is an almost 50 year old Blacker & Decker push mower!

1. Remove the cover of the lawn mower.
2. Remove the old brush holders.
3. Cut the brush wires.
4. Carefully install the terminals in the brass brush holder with the spring behind it.
5. Reconnect the wires (be careful as the terminals are small and the spring will go flying out)
6. This is perhaps more than a basic knowledge repair.
