The purpose of this gasket is to create an air-tight seal between the head and the cylinder case. Over time gaskets tend to get compressed and deteriorate eventually requiring replacement to maintain peak performance. Removed cylinder head, piston and cylinder assembly. Note it is necessary to remove the cooling fan this is attached by a left hand thread screw.
