Product Description ?

This is a genuine replacement part manufactured for lawn tractors. The steering gear is a cresent shaped metal plate that connects the drag links. The steering shaft has a steering pinion gear at the end, and rolls against this steering gear. When the steering shaft turns it moves the pinion, which turns this steering gear moving the drag links in the direction of the turn. It is recommended to inspect the pinion gear when replacing the steering gear, because damage to one gear can cause damage to the other. The steering gear is sold individually, and the pinion is available separately.

Getting to the to the bolts on the pinion gear requires removing side bolts of deck it is mounted on to get a wrench on it. Also replaced steering shaft bearing which was worn and allowing for the slippage and wear on pinion gear.
Blow and wash out underside to make work easier.
