framing nailer was leaking air when connected to air hose

Roger - December 28, 2021
Dismantled entire gun piston bumper was breaking into small pieces causing air leak. I use my nail guns daily therefore when something like this happens I always do a complete rebuild, in this case the front bumper was also bad. I always allow a few hours thoroughly clean, inspect and rebuild everything properly to extend the time between rebuilds. recommendations: Take your time be patient, drink a beer if necessary and make it like brand new.
P.S. DO NOT REUSE OLD PARTS SUCH AS GASKETS, ROLLED PINS, ETC. CHEERS AND HAVE FUN!

Not knowing what I would need before I tore it apart - I ordered a "complete" O-ring set from ebay because it was not available on ereplacementparts.com. It contained all of the orings for the lower part of the gun, and the nylon trigger ball, but not the exhaust on the top. I completely disassembled the gun including the trigger assembly with the exception of the top exhaust head. There were more than 20 o-rings to replace and lube inside. I found two damaged or broken but replaced them all. When it was re-assembed it still did not drive nails all the way. So I took apart the exhaust section and found the exhaust valve cracked and broken. I ordered this and the two gaskets from ereplacementparts.com and replaced them when they came. Now it works fine.

Disassembled the top side of the nailer and inspected components for damage. Found head cap was damaged. Researched the replacement parts, ordered and installed the new head cap and the gaskets. Tested the nailer, held the air pressure and operated just fine. Schematic explosion helped in ordering correct replacement parts. Thanks. Saved a $500 nailer.
