The purpose of this item is to filter out dirt and debris from contaminating engines. Over time fuel filter will get clogged and restrict the fuel getting to the carburetor. At this point filter should be replaced. This filter consists of a metal body with fabric filter material and it is sold individually.

Remove the old primer and insert the new primer
Use a pair of needle nose pliers and grasp the fuel line with the filter on it and pull it out of the tank.
