This charcoal filter is a component in your over-the-range microwave. Its purpose is to eliminate odors and grease from the air while you cook. Measuring 10 inches in length, 2.38 inches in width, and 0.31 inches in thickness, this filter has an aluminum frame with a layer of charcoal. The charcoal absorbs and traps particles produced during cooking. As time passes, the filter becomes saturated with impurities and loses its efficiency. If you notice the filter appearing dirty, clogged, or damaged, it is likely time for a replacement. It is generally recommended to change the filter every 6 months. To replace it, simply remove the microwave filter cover, push the filter back to release it from the locking tabs, and then snap the new filter into place by pushing it past the locking tabs.
