The pawl was locking up. It was a older reel so I replaced the worm shaft as well. Just to replace the pawl might take 3 minutes.

Older white shamno chronarch reel 200E7. Just to replace the pawl- open side cover (the side with the cast control weights). There is a long screw that goes across to the other side the shank of the screw goes through the level wind you will see it. Take out the screw. The screw holds on the cover over the level wind. Remove the cover it only has one screw. You will now be able to get to the cap that holds the paw into the level wind. Remove the cap and the pawl is exposed. You may have to move the reel handle or tap in it. The pawl comes out and put the new one in turn it until it goes all the way in. Replace the cap just barely beyond finger tight. And reassemble the rest. It's really simple maybe 3 minutes. There are some really great YouTube videos. Look at YouTube for directions on replacing the shaft. I have a piece of heavy cardboard with finish nails poked through and super glued in place. I also drew a simple reel and poked holes so I could put the screws back in the proper place. As you take parts off slide them down on the finish nails. I get one of my wife's good white towels and work on top of it. That way if you drop something it doesn't bounce and it's easy to find. remember!!!! YouTube is your friend!

I first took real apart laying it out as it came apart in order cleaned all parts that I planned to
reuse then started putting it back together once back together tested all worked well. I now
have a old reel that works like new at a fraction of a new one
