I first went to the web for an exploded diagram of the tractor model I was working on.
I then used a small hoist to lift the rear of tractor for access. This is not the only way to get access to the trans-axle but in my opinion, is the easiest.
Once removed, the trans-axle can be taken apart and the new shaft and gears can be installed quickly.
What impressed me about Ereplacementparts.com was the cost for the part. I saved over a hundred dollars by shopping here.

I hooked a change hoist to the tree to lift the rear end off the ground remove the drive belt remove the gear shift pin 4 Bolts from the rear end rolled it out underneath the lawn mower then I remove the 9 Bolts then I put the new drive shaft in and added new Grease
